Violin, Viola, or Cello Lessons

Our private lessons studio has four key components: three private lessons a month, a monthly studio gathering affectionately called Squad Saturday, regular masterclasses, and a Winter and Spring Showcase. We accept string students of all levels and ages from never having picked up an instrument to preparing for college auditions and beyond. A small portion of all lesson fees goes towards our free string classes.

The 4 Components of our Lessons Program

3 Monthly Lessons

Every student receives 3 lessons a month with one week as an off week to make up a lesson if needed. Students can sign up for 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons. All teachers use the Bornoff approach while also pulling repertoire and method books from Suzuki, Barbra Barber, Flesch, Kreutzer, and much more. Each student will receive an individualized plan that will best help them progress on their musical growth.

Masterclasses

Masterclasses at RMC aren't for seasoned professionals, but for students of all ages interested in mastering their craft through collaboration and continued learning. One to two times a year, an expert in the field, classical performer, composer, fiddler, studio musician, or anything in between, visits RMC to work with our young musicians. These one to three hour sessions provide an opportunity for students to deepen their knowledge of the field of music by exploring musical career options, alternative music styles, and group technique work.

Monthly Studio Time

Creating a sense of community is crucial for young musicians. Often in private lessons studios, students only ever interact with their teacher and do not have a chance to meet/collaborate with other students. As a result, we created a monthly studio gathering, affectionately called “Squad Saturday” where students have the opportunity to warm up together, play their pieces to receive feedback, and work on chamber music.

Spring and Winter Showcase

At the end of the winter and spring semester we have a showcase where our young musicians  have the opportunity to present what they have been working on throughout the semester/year. It could be as simple as their open strings, a piece they composed, solo repertoire from lessons, or chamber pieces small groups have learned. Students are not required to participate but are highly encouraged as this is a great opportunity to bring together our diverse community in celebration of each student’s hard work.
