RMC Lessons Studio
Private and Group lessons with purpose.
Our Lessons Studio offers private instruction for beginner through advanced students, with a team of experienced string educators dedicated to helping each student grow as a musician. We offer violin, viola, and cello lessons for both youth and adult students.
We believe that finding the right teacher is an important part of every musical journey and will do our best to accommodate teacher requests whenever possible.
What Sets Us Apart
Every lesson helps sustain The Raleigh Music Collective's mission. Lesson fees support our teaching artists, scholarships, program operations, and free and reduced-cost music education opportunities for local students. Every dollar is reinvested into our programs, helping us expand access to high-quality music education across our community.
Studio Policies
Scheduling
Students receive 3 lessons every month. You and your teacher will decide your weekly day/time and unless otherwise notified, your teacher will plan on lessons being the first 3 weeks of the month. Students are allowed to add on another monthly lesson for an additional cost if needed.
Practicing
Each teacher will work one on one with you to help create a practicing plan that is best suited and tailored to each students needs. While practicing is incredibly important and necessary for growth, every child is motivated differently which greatly factors into practicing habits. When in doubt, we encourage students to practice 3-5 times a week for as long as their lesson lasts.
We hold our work to high standards. We focus on sustainable results built on smart strategy and real insight.
Reschedule & Cancellation
If private lessons are cancelled before 24 hours, they are eligible to be made up. If a lesson is forgotten or less than 24 hour notice is given, that lesson is forfeited. All make-up lessons must be rescheduled by the end of the month, otherwise that lesson is also forfeited. Group lessons are not eligible for makeups
Performances
Students will have 2-4 performance opportunities a year. While no student is ever required to perform, we love to encourage students to step out of their comfort zone and share a gift they have been cultivating with those around them.
Payment
Monthly payment is due at the first lesson of every month. Payment includes three monthly lessons, Squad Saturday, masterclass fees, accompaniment fees, and some materials. Invoices will be sent out at the beginning of each month and you can pay online or via check.
Our Packages
Your lessons fees include your child's' monthly lessons, a monthly studio class, a semesterly masterclass they will have the opportunity to perform in if interested, a monthly Saturday class that includes music theory class and electives such as improvisation, composition, choir, etc.
Our Rental Program
Any students taking lessons or classes with the Raleigh Music Collective has the option to rent an instrument from us. All instruments come with the instrument, case, bow, cleaning cloth, and rosin. Cellos come with a rock stop. The rental fee is paid in one payment at the beginning of the school year in September. Violins and violas are $200 for a year and cellos are $350. General repairs and maintenance are included in your rental fee but if the instrument is unrepairable, you are responsible for the replacement cost. If for some reason you choose not to continue using your instrument for the whole year, you will be reimbursed the remaining rental fee.
Instruments are provided at no cost for families participating in tuition free group classes or if you are a part of the scholarship lessons program.
